Animal Alphabet

My friend and Nottingham based, super talented designer Alex Nelson let me have a look at some new illustrations he is working on this week. They’re so good I’ve blagged some images so I can let you have a sneak peek.

The working title is ‘Animal Alphabet’ and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work out that the collection is made up of 26 illustrations depicting an animal for each letter of the alphabet.

I’ve been speaking to Alex quite a bit about the illustrations and I think what I like most is that he’s moved away from what you would expect to find in a book like this, while still keeping it accessible for little ones. For example, for the letter C you’re going to expect to be cat right? Wrong! Check it out.


There’s no denying that the illustrations are going to make stylish prints for any nursery in Notts but Alex is also thinking about getting the collection made into a book. I think it’s a great idea, I’ve seen his finished work before and it always looks mega Instagramable, so no doubt the book is going be just as at home on a coffee table in a lace market flat as it will on West Bridgford nursery shelves.
