When I think back to Christmas in my childhood, I always remember the experiences – big family dinners, the way the house smelt like ‘proper coffee’ and cheese boards that lasted well into the New Year. What I don’t remember so much is the presents…
I’ve always hated putting the Christmas tree up, I don’t know why, I’m a grinch. I don’t mind it once it’s there but actually going through the rigmarole of getting it and decorating it isn’t for me. But… since buying a house and having to take the lead on decorating, unless I want the season to pass unmarked, I’ve adopted a technique that has made it all a bit more enjoyable.
I always love finding something new in Nottingham and as I have got older, gardening has become a much-loved hobby of mine. So when my boyfriend told me he’d seen a post on Instagram about a pop-up houseplant shop in one of my favourite Saturday breakfast spots, I made plans to attend.
My friend and Nottingham based, super talented designer Alex Nelson let me have a look at some new illustrations he is working on this week. They’re so good I’ve blagged some images so I can let you have a sneak peek.
